There is one artist in The “D” making major waves in the music business, but no one knows his name, but that’s about to change for Braxton Davis. This nobody has opened up for some of the biggest artists in the local and international music scene, without having as much as a major hit CD. His first break came when he opened for the “Soul Invasion Tour,” starring Alicia Myers, Enchantment, Al Hudson, One Way, and the Fantastic four. His second appearance was with Vivica A. Fox’s,“ Pamper Me” show, and his third show was an awards show honoring the likes of Alicia Myers, Enchantment, The Contours, and Mitch Ryder. Braxton received his future Legends Award that night.He was tutored by awesome professionals like Toby Jackson, Joan Crawford, and Bernie Cats. Davis has also starred as Joe in the musical, “Show Boat.” As well as singing and entertaining hundreds on the Carnival’s Legends cruise ship. This local talent will continue to put on a one-man show throughout the summer, always packing various venues. Braxton has a unique sound like no other, doing the likes of Sam Cooke, James Brown, Lil Richard, Joe Cocker, Bob Seger and Louis Armstrong. He’s backed by some of the hottest musicians in music: The Nyce band and the BD horns with their colorful and original style. He didn’t have any singing experience until that near fatal night in 2001 where tragic things were just around the corner. He was soon divorced, with bad health, losing one of his computer stores, and a major car accident in which he was almost killed, but God was not done with him. During his recovery he lost his things, cars and eventually his home. He ended up homeless and resorted to moving into the equipment/backroom of his last computer store. In spite of everything, he would consider this as being the point in which his life changed … forever. From this point on, music would become his new passion. He is also a computer and music teacher for Detroit Public schools helping kids at an alternative school achieve success.He has put together a collection of his own work from his different personality of house, R&B and techno called “All the flavors number one, two and three”, which was picked up by House Music and Techno fans overseas. Fans started to notice this big man could sing, dance, act, perform and entertain, becoming a fan favorite in many clubs and bars around town. He has receive the legends award in 2009, he was nominated R&B artist of year in 2010 and in 2011 was award the R&B artist of the year by the Black music association.
